By uploading an audio file to this page (https://www.tizianaalocci.com/belonging-upload), you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following Terms & Conditions.
1. About the Project
Frequencies of Belonging is a participatory art and research project that collects voluntary voice recordings responding to the question:
“What does home mean to you?”
Submitted audio recordings may be used—anonymously—as part of public art installations, exhibitions, research outputs, documentation, and related publications connected to the project.
2. Eligibility
By submitting content, you confirm that:
You are 18 years of age or older
You are submitting the recording voluntarily
You have the legal capacity to grant the rights described in these Terms
3. What You Are Submitting
You may upload one or more audio files containing your recorded voice.
You agree not to include:
Your full name, address, phone number, email, or other identifying personal data
Names or identifying details of third parties
Hate speech, harassment, threats, defamatory, unlawful, or discriminatory content
Copyrighted material you do not own or have permission to use (e.g. music, film audio)
Submissions that violate these conditions may be excluded or removed.
4. Ownership of Your Voice Recording
You retain full ownership of your audio recording. Nothing in these Terms transfers copyright ownership to the project owner.
5. Licence You Grant to the Project
By submitting an audio file, you grant Tiziana Alocci a:
Non-exclusive
Worldwide
Royalty-free
Perpetual
Irrevocable (subject to withdrawal clause below)
licence to use your submission, anonymously, for the purposes of:
Public art installations and exhibitions
Audio-visual artworks and spatial sound works
Research, documentation, and archiving, including on third-party websites like YouTube and project page
Educational, academic, and curatorial contexts
Project websites, catalogues, publications, talks, and presentations
This includes the right to:
Edit, cut, loop, layer, process, modify, or transform the audio
Combine it with other recordings, sounds, music, or data
Present it in physical or digital form
Use it across any current or future media formats
No financial compensation will be provided for submitted content.
Submission is understood as sufficient consideration for participation in the project.
6. Anonymity
Submissions will be used anonymously by default
Your name will not be displayed or attached unless you explicitly request attribution in writing
You agree not to self-identify within the audio recording, beyond the sound of your voice
7. Right to Withdraw
You have the right to withdraw your submission at any time.
To request removal, you must email: hello@necessity.ink
Please include:
The approximate date of submission
Any identifying details you recall about the recording
Upon withdrawal:
Your audio will no longer be used in future outputs
Reasonable efforts will be made to remove it from archives and future installations
Please note:
If your recording has already been included in a completed physical installation, printed material, or past exhibition, it may not be possible to retroactively remove it from those instances.
8. Moderation & No Obligation to Publish
Submission does not guarantee inclusion.
The project owner:
Reserves the right to review, curate, or decline submissions
Is not obligated to use or respond to every contribution
Does not guarantee storage duration or publication
9. Data Protection & Privacy (UK GDPR)
No account is required to submit
No identifying personal data is intentionally collected
Audio files are stored securely and accessed only for project purposes
Data processing is based on consent under UK GDPR and EU GDPR principles
Audio files are published on the project website page monthly
You may exercise your data rights (access, erasure, restriction) by contacting the email above.
10. Disclaimer
You acknowledge that:
Participation is voluntary
The project is artistic and interpretative in nature
You are responsible for the content of your submission
The project owner is not liable for:
Interpretations or contextual uses of the audio
Any emotional response triggered by participation
Loss or deletion of submitted content due to technical failure
11. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
